Beginning a career in cybersecurity reveals a truth we must embrace – the field is vast, and there’s always more to learn. In this ever-evolving industry, humility becomes our guide as we understand that knowing everything is an impossible feat. Each day brings new challenges, and the need for continuous learning becomes not just a recommendation, but a fundamental aspect of our professional journey.

Embracing the Learning

Entering the field of cybersecurity means accepting that the learning journey is ongoing. It’s not about reaching a final destination but about evolving and adapting to the changing landscape. While we may not grasp every detail of each specialization, it shows the richness of the field.

Resources like the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST)’s NICE Cybersecurity Framework, CompTIA career pathways and Cyberseek.org offer valuable insights into the industry’s diverse landscape.

Guiding the Next Generation

Addressing the cybersecurity workforce shortage requires a proactive approach. Children’s books such as “See Yourself in Cybersecurity” play a crucial role. This endeavor not only emphasizes the significance of cybersecurity but also introduces the youth to various domains and roles within the field.
